I hear it time and time again, “ Eh, my [insert muscle] is hurting so I’m just going to rest it” or “It’s no big deal, I’ll just push through the pain”.
If something isn’t feeling right, by all means you should rest it but that’s not the only thing you should do. You should figure out WHY it started hurting in the first place. You should also NEVER push through actual pain. This is where communicating with your coach is crucial.
We don’t have the answers for everything and we don’t try to either. However, we do utilize the tools and resources given to us and that is Delta Physical Therapy. When something is outside of our scope, we will always point you in their direction and you should take us up on that advice.
Our bodies are our vehicles except we can’t just buy a new one when one gets run down. We get one shot. That’s why it’s so imperative that we fix issues as they occur. The injuries we ignore now are the problems we deal with when we get older.
Have a bad knee currently? Imagine how it will feel 5+ years from now when you’ve ignored correcting the issue. We can’t stop the process of aging but we can impact the way we age.
We suggest creating a relationship with your PT. When I describe my health care system it looks like this:
