HERO WOD: John Crisci

SATURDAY

This Firefighter Hero WOD is dedicated to John Crisci, who was killed on September 11, 2001 while trying to help people evacuate the WTC.

 Lieutenant John A. Crisci joined the New York City Fire Department on November 5‚ 1977. With a 24-year career‚ he worked in many engine and truck companies throughout the city. His latest service was for the Hazardous Materials Co. 1 located in Maspeth‚ Queens. This unit is a citywide response team specializing in hazardous‚ biochemical and terrorist incidents in the City of New York. 

Lt. Crisci’s career also included being a Fire Marshal and teaching at the ‘Rock.’ He received the Chief John J. McElligott Medal in 1989 for the rescue of a little girl in a tenement building in Harlem. 

Not only was he a dedicated firefighter but also a great dad to his three sons. His wife and family will never forget John’s heroism.
