I was taking a leisurely scroll through the gram when I came across this quote:
Every time you are tempted to react the same old way, ask yourself if you want to be a prisoner of the past or a pioneer of the future.
When I read this, I damn near dropped the phone like it was a microphone and said out loud, “YES!” I love this quote because it is the epitome of a growth mindset. You hear the excuses all the time either out of your mouth or someone else’s.
“That’s just who I am.”
“It’s my genetics.”
“I just don’t have time.”
“I’ve tried everything.”
bullshit. bullshit. bullshit. I JUST DON’T BUY IT. Not everything is in our control, but a lot of things are and it’s time we start calling ourselves out.
This topic can branch out to every single part of your life.
Feel stressed at work? Take a look at your prioritization and organization skills.
Can’t get along with your spouse or friend? Take a look at how you are reacting to them and treating them.
Can’t lose weight? Look at all the decisions you’re making that aren’t healthy. Believe me. They are there.
Can’t reach that goal you’ve been eye balling? Examine your efforts. Do they align with your goal? Is that goal even something you truly want? Or do you just like the thought of it?
Life isn’t sunshine and roses, Fam. It’s tough. It can be sweet at times but there is a lot salt in the air. If you sit around thinking that you don’t have control over who you are then you’re missing out on a whole side of yourself. Seek out who you want to be. Form habits that you admire in others or want for yourself.
Do you know how many people ask me if i’m former military when they first meet me? A lot. The only reason I can think of is due to the way I carry myself and how disciplined I can be. I saw that in the veteran’s of GCF and something about them made me want to be a little less sensitive and a little more GANGSTER. They have this unspoken “By any means necessary attitude” and I freaking love it. They also have routine and since implementing routine into my life, it has allowed me to really focus on things that matter. So what if I eat the same thing every day for a month. I don’t care. That gives me more time to do thing things I want to do instead of twiddling my thumbs wondering what I’m going to eat today.
Anyway, I’m starting to ramble now but I just want you guys to hear this. YOU CAN BE WHOEVER THE HELL YOU WANT SO GO BE IT AND STOP MAKING EXCUSES. I LOVE Y’ALL.
Also shout out to David, Kashanna, and Brandon who are on a Whole 30 right now. I’M SO PROUD OF YOU and this is only the beginning!
