What can you do today that will make tomorrow better?
What a simple question that applies to everything.
When I leave the gym in the afternoon, I’m usually exhausted. Aren’t we all after a long day of work?
When I get home all I want to do is throw down my bags, take a shower, shove food down my throat, put the dishes in the sink and go to bed. If I did that, my next morning would go as follows:
Wake up. Make coffee. Look at dishes in the sink and sigh. Cook breakfast. Put more dishes in the sink. Fix food for work. Fill water canteen. Get dressed. Brush teeth. OUT THE DOOR WE GO! Work all day. Come home to do dishes unless Lindsey did them which means UH OH…. and the cycle repeats itself.
Instead this is what I do:
I meal prep on Sunday and prepare 3 days of meals that I can grab and go.
I set my coffee pot the night before so I wake up to the fresh smell of coffee. GAME CHANGER.
I put my dishes in the dishwasher or wash them by hand so my wife loves me and I don’t stare at dirty dishes at 4am.
Those 3 little things, that take me little to no time, make everything so much easier during the week. These are learned behaviors obviously and didn’t happen over night but it all started with a simple thought:
What can I do today that will make tomorrow easier?
Sometimes it’s saying no to a night out or saying no to cupcakes that your best friend/co worker got for his birthday from your other friend that works next door.
Regardless, find a routine that lessons the chaos and aligns with your goals! There is a way, even those of you who have children. YOU CAN DO THIS. Make it a priority to figure it out or else you’ll be stuck talking about your goals instead of achieving them.
